Date: October 26, 2018
Students Visited: 42
Under initiatives propagated by UBA, IIT Roorkee Science Exhibitions were conducted in Junior High School, Meerpur for 8th to 10th standards. A great number of students showed keen interest and actively participated in the events. Some students from class 6th and 7th also made projects of their own. Many of them also showed a desire to pursue higher education and achieve greater heights in the future. Hence, to discover the talents hidden in bright minds, the visit was organized by the team members in the hope that this visit might bring a positive change in the lives of students.
An outstanding example of motivation created by such visits was observed 2 years ago. It was when the same kind of visit was organized by team Chharba, UBA Meerpur in the year 2015. A student named Abhijeet Rathi was a part of that visit. He came to know that premier institutions like IITs exist and the fact that he can also be a part of such institutions in the future if he worked harder. And the result was that today he is a student of IIT Roorkee and also a member of Team Chharba, UBA IIT Roorkee. This shows that the imprints created on young minds last forever.
A glimpse of IIT Roorkee campus life and the prestigious history it beholds can motivate them to work harder and achieve greater heights in the future.
The Campus Visit was conducted by the team UBA, Meerpur on October 26, 2018, of 42 students (winner of Science Exhibition, held on October 02, 2018) along with 2 teachers. The Campus Visit consist visit to the Library, the James Thomason Building, and the H. B. Medlicott Museum.
