Information and communication technology (ICT) is a neural element and an empowering force in the 21st century. Societies with better access to communication and information technology tend to go to a farther distance on the path of overall development.
Student’s Initiative for Integrated Rural Development (SIIRD) has realized the importance of ICT since the beginning and it has been one of the major initiatives of SIIRD. UBA team under this initiative visited a school and empowered the future generation by teaching them the basics of computer software applications. The aim of the initiative is to build students' technical intellect so that they can connect with the outside world be it by setting Information kiosks or by imparting fundamentals of computer education.
In this phase, the team has provided computer education to students of the secondary wing in Chandpur culture. We targeted a class size of 30 to ensure the continuity of our efforts. This resulted in an increase in their knowledge to a considerable extent. They performed fairly well in the tests conducted and their increased interest in this field is quite encouraging for the team as well as for students. The effort was appreciated by their parents as well as teachers of the school.
